             MINIATURE COVERED BRIDGE CONTEST

                     to be held at the

          ASHTABULA COUNTY COVERED BRIDGE FESTIVAL



The Ashtabula County Covered Bridge Festival Committee, along with
the Ashtabula County Engineer's Office, would like you to enter the
"Mini Covered Bridge Contest" this year.

We had a great turnout last year and hope to top that number this
year. We had Covered Bridge buffs from all over the country stop in 
and take pleasure in the wonderful display of bridges made by 
individuals who put many hours into these models.

If you've registered before, please enter again. If you haven't, then 
why not join in the fun? We hope to make this an exhibit that shows 
creativity from different views and a variety of covered bridges seen 
through the creator's eyes. Show off your talents, enthusiasm and pride 
in our county. Here are the details:

All entries must be delivered to the 4-H Building (east of the grandstands) 
at the Ashtabula County Fairgrounds in Jefferson, Ohio on Friday, 
October 12th, 2012 between 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. All entries must be 
picked up on Sunday, October 14th, 2012 between 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. 
We will not accept any entries prior to this time and they MUST be 
delivered to the fairgrounds. No exceptions. 

Following the entry period, judging will be done by a team of selected 
persons. Depending on the division, judging will be based on true scale 
(1’=1” and/or Relationship of components), materials used, likeness 
(identifiable as an existing Ashtabula County Bridge), detail and finish. 

The classes are as follows:

o ADULT CLASS - 15 yrs. & older / Scale wood models

o ADULT CLASS - 15 yrs. & older / Non-Scale wood models

o JUNIOR CLASS - 15 yrs. & younger / Non-Scale wood models
(includes: popsicle sticks, tooth picks, etc.)

For the classes above, 90% of the materials used MUST be cut wood

o CRAFT CLASS - Open to all ages
(includes: cardboard, paper products, needle work, food stuffs, etc.)

o ART WORK CLASS - Open to all ages
(includes: paintings, chalk work, pencil, charcoal, ink, etc.)

o MISCELLANEOUS CLASS - Open to all ages
(includes: carvings and all others not listed above)

NOTE: If you entered a bridge and won a prize in a prior year, the same 
bridge is not eligible for a prize this year. We encourage you to display 
your bridge, but it will not be considered for another prize.


PRIZES: All classes will be awarded a 1st place cash prize of $25, 

a 2nd place cash prize of $15 and a 3rd place cash prize of $10.
